A library of materials and objects in dialogue with artworks

Maps, sounds, telephones, photographs, fabrics, litter, and a number of other objects form a library collection called “Material Matters,” located at the premises of the EMST—National Museum of Contemporary Art and the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA).

aneducation brings together a series of objects that have been entrusted by a number of documenta 14 artists and invites students of all ages to explore this collection and participate in an interactive walk in order to learn about the different artistic processes and the multiplicity of topics that shape the exhibition.

Through this library of materials the students can engage with interlaced themes that are unraveled throughout the exhibition, including migration, colonialism, tradition, and ecology. In addition, they can experiment with different means and approaches to create their own artwork.
