South as a State of Mind
Past and Present Issues
with Michelangelo Corsaro and Laura Preston

South as a State of Mind is a contemporary art magazine founded in Athens by Marina Fokidis in 2012. In its new, temporary role as the documenta 14 journal, the sixth issue arrived one and a half years before the exhibition opened in Athens and Kassel in 2017; the fourth guest issue is due out this summer. Past editorial assistant and documenta 14 curatorial assistant Michelangelo Corsaro joins documenta 14 associate editor Laura Preston on a discussion and readings from past and present issues.

Michelangelo Corsaro is a curator, writer and editor. He curated exhibitions in Italy, Austria, Lithuania, Belgium, and Cyprus and was fellow curator at Art Space Pythagorion in Samos in 2013 and 2014. He worked for Kunsthalle Athina and South as a State of Mind until 2015. Michelangelo is currently working for documenta 14 as curatorial assistant.

Laura Preston is a writer, researcher and curator. She was the Curator-at-Large for Victoria University of Wellington’s art gallery, the Adam Art Gallery, from 2013–16, and Guest Curator at Portikus, Frankfurt am Main, in 2012.
