“The working title of this year’s documenta and the artistic director’s appeal for stories prompted us to form an initiative group which has made preparations for several events and activities under the banner of ‘Remembrance as Resistance.’ They are meant to contribute to a reconstruction of the sometimes problematic and painful relations between Germany and Greece while emphasizing perspectives for democratic relationships of solidarity between equal partners. This can only be achieved by making room for suppressed and long-forgotten experiences and information. In view of recent political developments in Europe and the rest of the world, it is especially important for us to remember and reappraise the atrocities committed under Fascist regimes.

We have selected a number of stories, texts and songs, some of which have been translated into German. Citizens of Kassel will read these texts in The Parliament of Bodies over the course of three evenings, each focusing on a different thematic complex.”
