David Perlov: Retrospective
David Perlov, Diary Part 1 and 2 (1973–80), Israel, approx. 100 min.
English with German subtitles
Presentation by Yael Perlov

Diary is the magnum opus of the Israeli documentarian and pedagogue David Perlov, shot over a period of ten years. Perlov, who immigrated to Israel from Brazil in the late 1950s, documents his everyday life, capturing personal family moments along with political and social changes in Israeli society. A meandering stream of consciousness that mixes the quotidian with historical events and free associations from the director’s past life and aesthetic inklings, Perlov’s self-annotated footage offers both spontaneous and ruminative moments.
